Belmont Coach House

The Brief: Belmont Coach house was a mish mash of original coach house and various extensions with a dark, interior and all rooms linked by a windowless corridor. Parts of the fabric of the Coach House date back to 1855. We were asked to remodel and extend the property in order to create a modern day home.

The Design: The property was extended and a new external terrace and glazed corridor added to bring in more light and to allow the principal living areas to address the beautiful open garden. The existing building and all its quirks are embraced and adapted in order to form new spaces such as a playroom, open plan kitchen and dining room. All its traditional features are retained where appropriate in order to set off the contemporary additions, such as the staircase, whilst retaining the integrity of the existing property.
